The way is paved and we are working on the realization of our vision: the "House of the Immigration Society".
Last but not least, the COVID-19 pandemic shows us all that we cannot always directly influence external factors. Thus, if the circumstances require it, we will adjust our schedule to the "House of the Immigration Society" accordingly.
1990
First demand of DOMiD founders for museum representation, followed by conferences, exhibitions and publications. More about this in our organisation chronicle.
2015
Former President of the Bundestag, Prof. Dr. Rita Süßmuth, becomes patron of the project
2016
Feasibility study financed by the state of NRW and the NRW Foundation
2018
At the request of the Cologne Integration Council, the Cologne City Council supports the establishment of the Migration Museum in Cologne
2019
The location for DOMiD's migration museum has been found: the area of the former industrial site "Hallen Kalk" in Cologne, on the right bank of the Rhine.
The federal government and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia allocate a total of €44.26 million in budgets for the "House of the Immigration Society"
2020
Start of planning and preparation of the museum construction
From 2021
Implementation of participatory programs, development of the permanent exhibition, the mediation and event program, architectural competition and further tenders

Start of the construction phase
