Multimedia Instllatione: "The mother of L."

The visual artist and videographer belit sağ has embarked on an artistic treasure hunt in the DOMiD archives, and is creating out of the variety of photographs, documents and "grey literature" a public video installation that critically interrogates classic representations of migration. The video installation will be viewable for the first time as part of the CityLeaks Urban Art Festival in Cologne. In a talk, the artist provided a glimpse into her artistic archival work that sits in the space between art and activism.

BELIT SAĞ is a videographer and visual artist who lives in Amsterdam. She studied mathematics in Ankara. Her background in the visual arts goes back to her work with video-activist collectives in Turkey, where she was a co-founder of the art space Karahaber and the archival project bak.ma. In 2014 and 2015 she completed residencies at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and in 2016 at the ISCP in New York. Her works have been shown at international film festivals in Toronto, Rotterdam, and New York, at the EYE Filmmuseum in Amsterdam, at the MOCA in Taipei, and at the Tabakalera Film Seminar in San Sebastián.

More Information can be found on the website of our partners the "Akademie der Künste der Welt" in Köln.

The event will take place on September 20th and on 21st, 2019.
