Note
In August 2026, DOMiD has been subject to a cryptocurrency investment scam. Our bank details were misused as part of this scam.
We will briefly explain the procedure to draw attention to the issue and provide clarification.
People are increasingly being contacted with offers of supposedly lucrative crypto investments. To do this, the fraudsters demand an initial deposit of around 250 euros to activate the investment or account and carry out verification.
This initial payment is made to an account based in Germany to give the impression of legitimacy. The IBAN used comes from publicly accessible associations or organisations. The perpetrators exploit the introduction of recipient verification to their advantage, claiming that banks are making errors in the new process, so that the error message “Recipient does not match the IBAN” is displayed incorrectly.
Shortly afterwards, however, a new IBAN is provided – often linked to a foreign account – and further payment requests follow. The money paid in is then usually lost.
DOMiD is a non-profit organisation and does not offer any investment opportunities. If anyone offers you such an investment, it is a scam.
If you come across such an offer that is connected to DOMiD in any way, please immediately contact your bank, the police and us via 0221-8002830 or service@domid.org.
