Accreditation press conference 22.10.2024

In a few years, a nationally significant social history museum will open in Cologne. Now the christening is imminent! The museum is based on the rich collection of the Cologne association DOMiD, which was founded by migrants in 1990. With over 150,000 items from the DOMiD collection, the history of Germany will be retold and the cultural heritage of migration in Germany recognized. An award procedure for the architecture and exhibition design of the museum is currently underway. Funded by the federal government, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the city of Cologne, the museum is expected to open in 2029. The name of the museum is being publicized in parallel through an outdoor advertising campaign (supported by Ströer) and a website (supported by the LVR).

The museum will now be given a name to replace the previous working title “House of the Immigration Society” and a new logo will be unveiled.
