Special site "Wildcat strikes 1973"

50 years ago, in 1973, there were strikes in over 300 places in the Federal Republic of Germany. Migrant workers, who had come to West Germany in the course of the recruitment agreements since the 1950s, were significantly involved in these strikes. To commemorate these labor struggles, which marked a turning point in German migration history, we present a special page.

Workshop project: "Against Racism - Unknown Perspectives"

Together with the contemporary witness and activist İbrahim Arslan, DOMiD has conceived the participatory workshop project "Against Racism - Unknown Perspectives". With the participation of those directly affected, the topic of racism is made tangible and history(s) is conveyed in a way that is close to life and biographical.

The photo shows an excerpt from a workshop that took place on October 31 at the National Theater in Mannheim. The workshop was conducted together with İbrahim Arslan and Çetin Gültekin. Çetin Gültekin was able to bring in the perspective of those affected by the right-wing extremist attack in Hanau in 2020.

Germany songs with Nedim Hazar – Almanya Türküleri

Photo: Germany songs with Nedim Hazar – Almanya Türküleri

Istanbul, Stuttgart, Bonn, Cologne and Berlin take note: On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the German-Turkish recruitment agreement, a special concert series will be held in November: Deutschlandlieder with Nedim Hazar.

Musicians of Turkish origin have networked and conceived this intergenerational project. The concert series shows an almost unknown part of a now common Turkish-German musical history and represents a musical celebration of remembrance. Deutschlandlieder features 12 to 15 carefully curated works from different decades and genres, with the original authors performing as soloists. Having them all on stage together is an extraordinary historical-musical event.
